"It was really difficult and I was really frustrated that no one was giving us clear answers or why there was such a shortage or that I could actually see," said Sharanda Matthews.

"We talked to a couple of daycares and they told us they had a spot for our son, but they couldn't take him because they didn't have enough staff," Chris Matthews said.
Dykes says he knew there would be more parents looking for childcare after the pandemic was over.

Dyke says she's done everything she can to make sure employees feel safe coming to work, but she says some employees still haven't returned. "We did everything to protect them, but still, you had people who were just scared."
Dyck says they are constantly recruiting and hiring. Childcare Network has been lucky enough to stay open during the pandemic, she says.
