Naval Cbc Port Hueneme - Shortly after the residents of Port Hueneme improved the port's facilities with private funds, the US Army purchased them, acquired another site, and began building the Advanced Base Depot (USA) to meet the needs of the Navy's construction forces (SeaBees). Pacific. The warehouse received the goods, stored them in large warehouses, and shipped them overseas as needed. Seabee units also came and went through the port. Pacific Naval Air Bases Co., a private company, operated the warehouse under contract with the Navy throughout the war. The warehouse was constantly expanded and by 1945 it could accommodate up to 21,000 ground crew and seamen in transit. The terminals can handle 9 cargo ships at a time with two landing tanks, and the train yard can handle up to 2,000 freight cars.
After the war, Port Hueneme was designated as a permanent settlement. The Navy took over operations and some of their jobs and personnel came here as other Marine departments around the country were closed. During the Cold War, Port Hueneme was the main US Navy base on the west coast.

Naval Construction Battalion Center (CBC), Port Hueneme, California, is the westernmost port for the Navy's mobile construction battalion. CBC supports the training and recruitment needs of more than 2,600 employees. CBC also operates a 1,600-acre naval base. CBC is located in the expansive agricultural area of the Oxnard Plain on the beautiful Southern California Coast, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles.
CBC's mission is to become the Seabees' port of call serving many locations around the world and to provide training, guidance and support. CBC provides training and mobilization requirements for four Seabee units, THREE, FOUR, FIVE and FORY Marine Mobile Construction Battalions and more than 16 Seabee units. The purpose of the CBC is to “support the Naval Construction Forces, naval units, and supply units of the organization sent from the CBC or transferred to the CBC's home station; support the mobilization needs of the Naval Building Forces; maintaining, storing and sending high-quality collection stocks; to perform engineering and technical services and such other duties as may be assigned by the higher authority.
Over the years, the location of Port Hueneme has increased or decreased depending on the situation in the country and the needs of the Navy. Currently, the CBC is responsible for the distribution, maintenance, repair and destruction of construction equipment and materials that make up the Recommended War Reserve Stocks. Many divisions of the Center, such as the Department of Commerce, the Administrator, the Civil Engineers Support Office, and the Facilities Systems Office, provide direct support to other commands of the Navy. In addition, CBC provides support to more than 40 charter commands with duties ranging from Seabee support to on-board missile systems testing.
Port Hueneme (pronounced "why-nee-mee") is located in the greater Oxnard area northwest of Los Angeles. The coastal region of Ventura County boasts some of the best weather anywhere. The base itself covers more than 1,600 acres and has more than 29 miles of roads and streets and 10 miles of rail. Port Hueneme provides the Navy's only deep-water port between San Diego and Washington. Continuing its mission today, Port Hueneme serves as a major port that provides training, management and logistical support to Seabees operating in multiple ports of call.

The NAVSEA Port Hueneme Land Warfare Center Division is part of the larger Naval Systems Command, consisting of 50,000 men and women. NAVSEA Port Hueneme prides itself on its unique ability to provide Support to Navy ships. NSWC PHD provides testing and analysis, in-service engineering and integrated logistics support services for surface and mine warfare and weapon systems for the Surface Fleet. Weapon systems include Point Defense, NATO Seasparrow, Harpoon, Tomahawk and Aegis.
A key part of the NSWC PHD capability is the Surface Warfare Engineering Facility (SWEF). Housed in a five-story, 50,000-square-foot building, SWEF provides systems engineering, development, and integration of US Navy ship attack and defense weapon systems. SWEF is home to a variety of fully functional systems, including sensors and ramps. The facility provides open sea lanes for radar installations and allows line-of-sight flight paths to the building. SWEF is able to follow ship issues to find engineering solutions, ship operation issues, new development programs including hardware and software upgrades, and train ship personnel on other activities. The SWEF is designed to provide the Navy with the ability to safely run multiple simulations of the full range of technology development, operational evaluation, fault analysis and training objectives without the burdensome cost of deploying systems to sea or using systems already deployed. programs on ships.
The Surface Warfare Engineering Facility is a ground-based test site and laboratory facility that allows testing and evaluation of systems designed for use by ships. The SWEF sea front environment makes it possible to simulate on-board operational problems and evaluate operations without the cost of using ships at sea or personnel to support those operations. There are three main types of systems and equipment installed in the SWEF complex: attack systems, fire control radar systems and missile defense systems. On a daily basis, SWEF staff investigate, verify and resolve issues reported by vessels and these systems. They also test the equipment before it is used on the ship, ensuring that it is ready for combat. In addition, they use equipment at SWEF to train personnel who will operate and maintain these systems and to develop engineering changes to improve system reliability, durability, safety and performance.
The Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) is a unique Navy asset located at PHD NSWC. SDTS is a modified remote-controlled ship. The ship supports self-defense engineering, testing and inspection without the security restrictions and in-port issues associated with manned ships.

Since 1963, Port Hueneme has been providing Replenishment En route (UNREP) engineering services to Navy ships. UNREP ensures that aircraft carriers, surface combatants and amphibious ships remain permanently at sea in support of our national interests. Both involve the transfer of all consumables from distribution equipment to consumer equipment while on the road. Things like firewood, food, weapons, repairs or spare parts and workers are always sent to sea. Port Hueneme has the only fully equipped and operational UNREP test site. This test site has modern constant voltage refueling and carrier systems with Navy standard equipment representing the latest developments in both the carrier and receiver components of the system. The test center has many uses.
As a testing ground, it is used to fully test new systems, devices and solutions. Any new UNREP innovation can be tested extensively under the controlled conditions, security and economy of this ground-based facility. Once a new development has been demonstrated at a test site, it can be put on board for sea trials with a high degree of confidence that it will perform as designed. As a training facility, it is used extensively to train both Navy and Army personnel. Due to the fact that the Navy's standard equipment installed at the test site represents the current design and the large number of UNREP equipment on board, training in equipment operation and maintenance and system operations is the most effective ground-based UNREP training available. As a demonstration area, it is used to demonstrate UNREP's processes, systems, tools and innovations to supporters, naval representatives, VIPs, foreign military representatives, and public and private groups. As a maritime technical assistance facility, it is used to monitor or report UNREP issues reported by ships and to develop remedial measures. As a repair facility, it is used for the recycling and testing of products delivered by ship and for returning them to service.
Built as a temporary supply in the early days of WWII, the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, California is a WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Operation Desert Shield/Storm veteran. In the early days of World War II, the CBC was formed to train, train and supply the newly created Naval Building Force "Seabees". Since then, the Seabees and Center have made history together. Officially established on May 18, 1942, during World War II, the center was responsible for the preparation and movement of more than 200,000 men and 20 million tons of equipment and supplies needed to support the war effort. More building materials and machinery were shipped from Port Hueneme than any other port in the United States.
When the Korean War came in 1950, Port Hueneme was ready to serve the Army again. Almost all of the naval construction equipment and supplies used in the war were diverted through Port Hueneme. The CBC supported all construction in Southeast Asia and the Pacific during the economic downturn that followed the Korean War, maintaining itself and its standing forces.
