Naval Construction Battalion Center - Welcome to the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, Mississippi. Home to the Atlantic Fleet Seabees, this small, vital institution has been a key US Navy facility since 1942. For over 70 years, Marines and Seabees from this position have served their nation in world conflicts and disaster recovery operations around the world. America. Located right on the Gulf of Mexico, the base is home to approximately 5,000 DoD civilians on active duty and their families. Naval Construction Battalion Center
Getting to and from NCBC Gulfport is very easy given its location on the Mississippi coast. Route 90 runs along the ocean, and I-10 is north of the city, so getting anywhere in the country by car is no problem. Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is also just a few miles from the base.

There is an Amtrak station in Biloxi, but it is currently closed since Hurricane Katrina caused extensive damage across the region in 2005.
The Greyhound station in Biloxi is a convenient and easy way to get anywhere in the country due to the extensive bus routes.
Public transportation in Biloxi and Gulfport is operated by CTA. An extensive network of bus routes throughout the Mississippi coastal region makes it extremely convenient to get from NCBC to anywhere in the area.
Nearby Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport offers flights to many major US airports and hubs. So while you won't be able to fly direct or from many places, it won't be much of a problem to get where you want to go.

The base is located in the city of Gulfport, which is the second largest in Mississippi. Nearly 70,000 people live in the city itself, and nearly half a million live in the greater Gulfport metropolitan area. Gulfport is also close to the city of Biloxi, which is home to over 40,000 people. As a coastal region, both cities are famous for their beautiful beaches. And given that Gulfport is known as the "Where Your Ship Arrives" city, it's no surprise that there's a US Naval base there.
One of Harrison County's two county seats, Gulfport is a thriving and diverse city, first built as a seaport and now boasting a huge tourism industry. Essentially a large seaside town, living in Gulfport means beautiful beaches and all the fun water activities that life by the sea allows for.
Harrison County's second seat, Biloxi, is east of Gulfport. Currently the fifth largest city in Mississippi, the city is known for its beautiful beaches (such as Gulfport) and the many large casinos adjacent to said beaches. It is also home to Keesler Air Force Base, the main installation of the U.S. Air Force's Air Education and Training Command.

Davisville Naval Construction Battalion Center
There are no schools in NCBC Gulfport, but the base's location in a large metropolitan area gives your children access to many public and private schools in the region. Between Harrison County and its two neighbors (Jackson and Hancock), there are 110 schools in 11 districts for children of all ages. Please contact the primary school liaison officer for more information on where your student may attend school.
Mississippi's coastal region has a humid subtropical climate. So you can expect long, humid summers and short, mild winters. There is also a decent amount of precipitation throughout the year, although it rarely snows. The region also experiences a lot of extreme weather during the Atlantic hurricane season, which typically runs from May to November. So be prepared for major storms and the possibility that you may be asked to evacuate the area.
